Spacer by CBRE

Spacer by CBRE is responsible for advising clients on office size, layouts, amenities, culture, long term planning, and growth in their office space investments. The CBRE team faced a challenge of differentiating themselves, and providing more value, from a saturated industry. In collaboration with Academy, we set out to resolve this issue with a new product, Spacer.

Problem & Process

CBRE was facing a problem of ubiquity of their service as competitors offered similar value. After conducting various stakeholder and user interviews the team had determined that their key differentiator was data and that exposing some internal recommendation tools that could be useful to brokers and clients would enable them to have a key competitive advantage in the years to come.

The team extensively researched marketplace driven apps, conducted user studies to highlight user painpoints and areas of opportunity for the redesign, and ran design sprints to ideate on ideas.

The Solution

The result was of Spacer, a tool to define the perfect office for your company. Receive your custom space recommendation in minutes. The tool garnered rave reviews from clients and brokers alike. Some customers even considered white labeling it for their own internal services.
